What is hose protection – and when should you use it?

Hose protection consists of sleeves, spiral wraps, shields and clamps that:

protect against wear/abrasion, heat/flames, chemicals and UV
prevent kinking and unintended bending
minimise the risk in the event of hose burst
bundle and route several hoses in the same assembly

Use hose protection in mobile machinery, industry, mining, construction and agriculture – especially where hoses
run close to sharp edges, moving parts or hot surfaces, or where the operator works close to high pressure.

Types of hose protection:

Partek Defense – nylon sleeve for personal and equipment safety

Purpose: Protects operator and equipment in the event of hose burst; reduces whipping
Pressure: Up to approx. 12,000 PSI

The need to provide a hydraulic hose with extra protection isn't always considered when the application is designed. Many hose assembly installations would benefit from a protective cover, but this only becomes obvious once all hoses and components are in place in the application. With Partek Wrap it is possible to fit a protective cover on the hose after it has been installed in the application.

Purpose: Retrofitted without removing hoses; protects against wear and bundles several hoses
